Pool maintenance: How much is involved?
According to the experts, how you design and locate your pool will influence the level of pool maintenance you’ll need to do. “Maintaining your pool will come in different stages and different sizes. It will all depend on how you set the pool up from day one,” explains Dean Herald of Rolling Stone Landscapes.

“You need to understand what you’re gonna be up for if you do install the pool. If you’re not into your maintenance, then get an outsider to clean it for you,” says Matt.

Dean Hearld of Rollingstone Landscapes: Maintaining your pool will come in different stages and different sizes. It will all depend on how you set the pool up from day one. Do you have an in-floor cleaning system? Is it running off a creepy, crawlies type of cleaning system? So, that first will determine what level of maintenance you need to do on your swimming pool.
Raoul Van De Laak of Good Manors: Maintenance of a pool really comes down to where it is positioned in a garden. Like, if there’s a tree hanging over it, it’s a weekly, daily job sometimes. So, it really depends on…and that also can throw the balance of the water off. That actually requires more chemicals.
Matt Leacy of Secret Gardens: Even for a standard property that has, you know, three or four trees around the backyard, your cleaning time is probably gonna be about half an hour every weekend in the summer. And if you have the right cleaning systems in the pool, that’ll maintain it through the week, and on a day-to-day basis, and then you’re out there just checking things on the weekend for probably about half an hour. So, you need to understand what you’re gonna be up for if you do install the pool. If you’re not into your maintenance, then get an outsider to clean it for you.
