Materials

Materials-hero

We’re going for the natural look, because Mother Nature is a stunner. We celebrate the inherent beauty of a material and all its imperfections. That means our team of craftspeople and collaborators design with minimal intervention in the process of curating the highest quality materials and furniture.

Teak

Materials-Teak-Hero
When crafting furniture fit for outdoors, there’s only one option: teakwood. A close-grained hardwood with a high natural oil content, teak is hard-wearing, highly resistant to rot, and almost impervious to weathering.

Our high-quality teak is sustainably sourced from a plantation in Indonesia. Trees are not cut until they are at least 40 years old and harvesting is closely managed by the Indonesian government. Our teak range receives a raw, untreated finish, which only improves as the furniture ages. With gentle care and maintenance, the grain, patterning and colour of our teakwood will stand the test of time, promising you decades of use and enjoyment.

Metals

Materials-Aluminium-Hero
Aluminium and stainless steel are our preferred choices because of their performance in extreme environments. Resilient, robust and raw, they’re in their element when they’re out in the elements.

Aluminium won’t rust or corrode, instead beautifying as it patinates over time. It’s a 100 per cent circular material – so it’s endlessly recyclable – and can be cast and powder-coated into infinite forms. It’s lightweight, cool touch, and resilient, offering flexibility in design and artistic context. Stainless steel is ripe for experimentation, and we love the different finishes that can be achieved with this metal. We offer a dark copperised finish and a patinated zinc finish; both add character and personality to the material – and the furniture it’s used to create. The aging and oxidation of stainless steel only add further individuality to each piece.

Fabric

Our upholstered furniture is available in a range of fabrics designed to weather the elements. Our fabrics are luxuriously soft and incredibly durable, in a palette that reflects their most natural forms.

Sunbrella have the outdoors down to a science. Their UV-protected, mould- and mildew-resistant fabrics are designed for the outdoors, and many are composed of a high percentage of recycled materials. They’re a highly durable option for an unpredictable environment. For a softer touch, our natural linen fabrics are sourced from Belgium. They’re great in sheltered outdoor locations.

Foam

Materials-Foam-Hero
We use Urecel QuickDry foam for all of our upholstered furniture because it’s the logical choice. It dries quickly after getting wet, and is an advanced, high-performance foam designed specifically for the outdoors.

Urecel QuickDry foam is produced using a sophisticated process called Hydro-Blast Reticulation. That sounds like a tongue twister, but the concept is simple – and effective. Basically, it allows water to drain rapidly and fresh air to circulate freely. That means that our foams keep their shape. They’re also treated to prevent the growth of mould, so your furniture can – and will – last a lifetime.
