Personal Pool Oasis
For those of you who are fans of Eckersley Garden Architecture, you’ll love this beautiful little inner-city oasis.
Rick Eckersley originally designed this garden for a close friend but loved it so much he ended up taking over the property a few years later. And we can see why.
The courtyard is paved in a stunning handmade terracotta that feels soft and luxurious underfoot. The intimate pool, with its sparkling stream of crystal blue, creates a river-like feel amongst the desert of the stone.
It’s beautiful in its simplicity and, like all of Rick Eckersley’s work, the colour is bold, simple and truly striking.

You also need to consider functional objectives – is the product suitable for a saltwater pool?
Does the paver’s texture provide a non-slip surface?

For example, some sandstones may not be suitable for a saltwater pool or some pool designs may require custom product sizing.
When it comes to swimming pool tile design and choosing the appropriate pool paving products, a key consideration is the coping around the pool.
‘Coping’ refers to the product, which creates the edge around the pool, joining it with the surrounding paving or landscaped area.
Depending on the paving stone selected, there are a number of coping options available in a variety of styles from the traditional round bullnose to rebated coping or even square edge coping for a cleaner modern look.
