The garden is a series of courtyards, each with a distinctive style, purpose and shape. On the street side the garden is planted mainly with indigenous shrubs, trees and grasses giving it a local flavour.
The driveway was constructed in irregular sized slabs of off-white concrete and the rendered boundary wall is inset with planters and timber panels. Upon entering the front gate you are lead through the courtyard past a shower and a bench to the front door, walking over slabs of siltstone and Buffalo granite cobblestones. These are natural all weather materials that feel great underfoot – a prerequisite for any beach house. This first courtyard finishes with a large square pond positioned on axis with the kitchen window. The triangular shaped swimming pool is the heart of the garden and is backed by a horizontal screen of obscured glass and Almond crazy paving.
Almost every room in this beach house looks inward over this central body of water, creating a home reminiscent of a weekend away.
