As a starting point, the backyard was levelled to provide access from both the first and second terraces. This enabled a wet edge spill over wall to the pool and an integrated sauna, which can be accessed from the lower level of the house.
The main pavilion has been designed with entertaining in mind. The outdoor kitchen includes a teppanyaki style BBQ, pizza oven, sink and even a custom made fridge. Whilst a unique cantilevered dining table was incorporated into the kitchen bench ensuring that guests and hosts don’t feel disconnected during the cooking process. A wood fire has also been included to ensure that outdoor entertaining can continue even during the cooler months. The material palette was chosen based on the existing style of the house. Large format Scala Travertine was selected for its hard wearing and low maintenance properties, and to complement the striking pool tiles. Likewise the stunning palette of planting colours softens the space and creates an interesting backdrop to the feature areas of the backyard.
