Luke Trovato, of Gartner Trovato explains that his architectural inspiration was very much a reaction to the site itself. Keen to work in with the landscape and surrounding geography he selected a natural palette of Alpine dry stone walling, soft natural render colours and native planting with the end result that the home visually blends into its surrounds. The ground floor in particular is bunkered into the rock bed to create a grounded architectural feel. Engineered zinc eaves and fascias float above the top of the house, creating a sense of delicacy for the grand scale building. The multiple cantilevered balconies seem to hover alongside the build and when standing on them looking out it’s almost as if you could reach out and touch the sea.
Generous proportions and streaming daylight make this home feel grand and welcoming at the same time. The natural material palette helps to blend the house into its surrounds and the views are out of this world. It’s a truly exceptional family home.
