With views to San Francisco Bay, the setting is unquestionably picturesque, but it’s how the garden responds to the natural environment that’s a standout.

Lush grassy swales run over undulating land forms, integrating the surrounding natural landscape. Not only do they add to the quaint setting, they also act as a storm water management system, diverting rain water away from the home.

“Following the sinuous swale, the cascading stairway creates a helix-like pattern and links the top of the property to the pool area below.”

Variations of green, greys, reds, yellow and oranges make up the warm Mediterranean planting palette. This creates the perfect juxtaposition between the distant rolling hills, blue skies and the tranquil water views beyond.

It’s a “hillside canvas with painterly sweeps of fiery colour”.

Large rocks, timber treads, natural stone and gravel provide structure and ground the soft landscape into the site.

Wander throughout the garden and you’ll find seating perfectly positioned to make the most of the bay views and plenty of local wildlife including hummingbirds and bees.  It’s a garden that’s grown into it’s surroundings with ease.
